Welcome to the:
Joint Service Honors Command
Fresno, California

Our Mission
The Joint Service Honors Command is composed of military
retires and former members of every service of the Armed Forces. The Joint Service Honors Command
members are disciplined, trained, loyal uniformed volunteers that serve and
stand ready to serve our area.
Military Funeral Honors
- Authorized Provider Partnership Program (AP3)
By law, as of 1 January 2000, Congress guaranteed Veterans’ Funeral Honors. All
eligible veterans are entitled to military funeral honors signifying America’s
gratitude for their honorable service. Upon request, two service members will
fold and present the American flag to surviving family members, and a bugler
will sound “Taps.” If a bugler is not available, a high-quality CD or digital
bugle will be used.
At least one member of the funeral detail will be from the deceased veteran’s
parent military service. The other may be from the same service or another
military service. Other authorized providers, such as members of a veteran’s
organization, may be used to augment the military detail. No particular rank is
specified in the law, but the services by tradition have ensured the person
presenting the flag to the family is at least the grade of the deceased veteran.
Once the family of an eligible veteran has requested Military Funeral Honors,
Funeral Directors or those assisting the family can call the Joint Service
Honors Command (559) 322-5057. This provides the Points of Contact to arrange
for a Military Funeral Honor.
The Joint Service Honors Command desiring to be an “official” part of the (AP3)
program has received training by a military unit designated to provide the
branch specific training. The protocol for establishing/requesting this training
was to call the military facility at Fort Huachuca, AZ and go through the
Commander’s/HQ office. The Joint Service Honors Command has been trained by the
"Fort Huachuca Select Honor Guard" to participate in the (AP3) program.
The Joint Service Honors Command is providing Military Funeral Honors at a
tremendous pace. These services are considered Full Military Funeral Honors by
the DoD are technically counted by the DoD as part of the AP3 program.

Profile
Greetings,
On behalf of all members of the Joint Service Honors Command,
welcome to our Fresno California website.
Our predecessors, The United States Volunteers, serve as our inspiration. They
arose in a time of this nation's seeking the American citizen resources as they
existed and employing them when and where needed. The US Volunteers were the
strength of the US Army during the Civil War and then again during the
Spanish-American War. Most notably, COL Theodore Roosevelt, Medal of Honor
recipient and others such as Major General Leonard Wood, Major General Arthur
MacArthur and many more, were US Volunteers. The nation took essentially
civilians who had some military training and raised them to meet the needs of
the United States.
That's what the Joint Service Honors Command is
all about. We are composed of military retirees and former members of every
Service of the Armed Forces. We are disciplined, trained, loyal, patriotic,
uniformed Volunteers that serve and stand ready to serve the Department of
Defense in a "seamless" manner. We wear the uniform with modifications of the
Service in which we served. Our uniform is distinct from the Active and Reserve
Forces, but provides a "seamless" appearance. Without argument, the United
States Armed Forces' Veterans are the greatest the world has ever seen.
Currently, our Veterans are dying at the rate of 1600 daily. Because of the War
on Terrorism, our Active and Reserve brothers and sisters are extensively
committed to fighting to preserve our democratic, free society. As a
consequence, about 90% of America's Finest are buried WITHOUT Final Military
Honors.
There is a critical shortage of properly trained, experienced, uniformed
personnel to support the mission of rendering burial services other than a
uniformed member of the Service of the deceased and a "boom box" or an
electronic bugle for Taps. The Joint Service Honors Command provides flag folders, the salute by a
rifle squad, an honor guard and a Chaplain. We are a "seamless" uniformed,
dedicated, experienced, military force who tries to meet the extensive
requirements of burying our brothers and sisters in arms. We put "Boots on
Graves" as was intended by Congress before this severe shortage of uniformed men
and women arose.
If you're 18 years old, an American citizen and are looking to don your uniform
once again or become trained and become uniformed, we welcome you with open
hearts!
